Our client is looking for a Engineering Manager (secondment to staff) to support their ongoing growth within the Energy Transition.
The company has the ambition to become a global processing company converting non-recyclable waste into valuable chemical building blocks and advanced biofuels. They offer a range of products from licensing, syngas islands to developing its own projects from initial concept based on own proprietary technology into full operation.
In this role, you will provide the essential coordination skills, technical knowledge, and management ability as listed below. This position has oversight of the core engineering disciplines, and ensures technical completeness and accuracy in project execution during all phases. This engineering leadership role has key influence over the most environmental and cost-effective total project solution.
The job:
As the Engineering Manager, you will manage the interface between Engineering disciplines and the rest of the company, including highly integrated work with the Project Management and Technology teams.
• Manage the production of Engineering deliverables with a team of discipline leads and external partners. You will ensure that the engineering work is completed on schedule, meets quality standards including review meetings and checking procedures, performance is within the baseline man hour and material budgets, required deliverables are produced, change management is executed in a timely manner, and discipline leads are apprised of issues related to their function.
• Direct and manage the interface between Engineering and the other disciplines on the project including Technology, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement and Contracts, Construction, and the client team.
• Act as a leader in applying cost competitive execution techniques and develop the most cost- effective total solution.
• Work with Discipline Leads to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate to achieve the engineering schedule commitments and personnel are assigned with appropriate ability.
• Line management of engineering discipline leads.
• Detail the interfaces and scope of external engineering partners and manage the day-to-day coordination of these partners.
• Work closely with Projects, Technology and Procurement & Contracting leads to support technology development and roll-out and the manage projects to client and company expectations.
• Support Business Development with effort estimate, tailored engineering solutions and client interaction.

You excel in teamwork and communication, capable of engaging with both project teams and higher management. The role demands leadership, delegation, and independent task execution. You can translates complex topics to understandable manageable actions for the team and takes proactive ethical actions to ensure project success.
• University degree in Engineering, Technical or Business studies, or equivalent on-the-job development.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in similar engineering roles, ideally in a licensed technology or investment environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, clients, coworkers, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job, particularly with Licensed process technology.
• Experience in phased gate approach to project delivery.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable (local) statutes and guidelines.
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
• Fluent in English. Dutch is an advantage.
• Experience with Scrum, Lean, Agile Methodologies or willingness to learn in practice.
• Flexible and willingness to travel (clients, projects, vendors, etc).
• Already living and working in The Netherlands.
